Available since 2009, Microsoft Security Essentials is the free antivirus offered by the firm of Redmond for computers running Windows XP, Vista and 7. Note also that this tool succeeds Windows Live OneCare specific to XP and Vista and precedes Windows Defender used under Windows 8, 8.1 and 10.
